The methods explained above of course only relate to legit video game testing. By this I mean you get a game you play it you fill out a form your done bam next job. There are other ways of earning money by playing games.
Firstly there is the MMO way of money making. This basically means you jump into your favorite MMO, let’s say World of Warcraft, and you perform services such as leveling characters selling gold for money and selling characters you level. You can also write guides and sell those but it is completely up to you. The income generated by this method is completely determined by how well you can advertise your goods and wares but this can generate a decent income.
There is also competitive professional gaming which basically involves you and potentially some team mates going to and participating in large gaming tournaments and winning prize money. Of course you have to very good at what you do but this can generate a very large income for small amounts of work.

You may wonder, how much money could someone make from sitting around playing video games all day? Well the answer is it can be quite a lot or not much at all.
Not very specific I know but let me explain. You’re first beginning your career you will probably be making around a measly 10 dollars an hour. Not much I know but as with all jobs patience and experience pay off and it doesn’t take much time at all to get up to 20-30 dollars an hour.
A 20 to 30 dollar and hour paying job again if this doesn’t sound like a big number let me help with the math. You work 8 hours a day, at say 25 dollars, that’s 200 dollars a day and you work 5 days a week. That is a thousand dollars a week to work from home whenever you want doing nothing but playing games that are months from release.
Now before you go thinking this is the land of milk and honey you have to realize that you do still have to work it is not just a matter of playing a game getting bored with it and moving on, you actually have to properly test the, but even then you are still playing games which let me assure you is more exciting than going into an office at the crack of dawn and filling out excel and word documents all day.
If you are interested in finding out more about the financial sides of professional video game testing than I recommend you try ‘Game Tester Guide’ not to be confused with ‘Game Testing Ground’. ‘Game Tester Guide’ offer lots of really helpful information when it comes to picking through good and bad jobs and finding out all the financial facts about professional game testing.

Have you ever played a game and wondered where it came from? Have you ever wondered how they get all the controls and commands to mesh seamlessly with the graphics and game play?
Most people know that basis of a game is created by designers, artists and software engineers, but how do they know it is going to work. Do they just put the game together release it and pray to god everything runs seamlessly? No of course not. Games are all rigorously tested by men and women.
These video game testers play these games months in advanced to the actual release date finding bugs, testing the game play, checking all the controls work, and just trying to break it so that the coders, and designers no exactly what needs to be fixed so that when you get the game on release date it runs perfectly on your machine.
You might think that playing games all day is a pretty easy job and maybe it is. But game testers are under just as much stress as developers. Every inch of the game must be tested; all the bugs must be found and be able to be replicated. This can be simple at times but then others it can mean hours of playing a single level just to locate a small flaw in the system. It can be a grueling task, but it also comes with many rewards.

The key here is to never think you're not good enough for the job. If you think it's out of your league, apply anyway you might get lucky. How do you find these companies you may wonder? Well the easiest way is to sign up for one of the guide sites and it will offer a list of potential job offers
Step 4: the resume Just like any job you need to have a resume. Not just any resume a great resume. Now obviously if you have no experience then you are not going to be able to have an amazing resume but the presentation should still be top notch.
Make it stand out visually. Don't just have text and a few headings saying how much of your life you have wasted playing video games make it look professional and say how much of your life you have spent enjoying and playing video games. A strong visual and well setup resume will set you apart from the rest
