Have you ever played a game and wondered where it came from? Have you ever wondered how they get all the controls and commands to mesh seamlessly with the graphics and game play?
Most people know that basis of a game is created by designers, artists and software engineers, but how do they know it is going to work. Do they just put the game together release it and pray to god everything runs seamlessly? No of course not. Games are all rigorously tested by men and women.
These video game testers play these games months in advanced to the actual release date finding bugs, testing the game play, checking all the controls work, and just trying to break it so that the coders, and designers no exactly what needs to be fixed so that when you get the game on release date it runs perfectly on your machine.
You might think that playing games all day is a pretty easy job and maybe it is. But game testers are under just as much stress as developers. Every inch of the game must be tested; all the bugs must be found and be able to be replicated. This can be simple at times but then others it can mean hours of playing a single level just to locate a small flaw in the system. It can be a grueling task, but it also comes with many rewards.
